Tuxedo Jeans?

I came across this tuxedo jeans tutorial and I'm still contemplating if I'm a fan.  I think I like the idea, but not so much the color of denim in this example.  I almost feel the color needs to be a spot on match or total contrast.  A few seasons ago, the tux pant was all the rage, perhaps that's why now I need a pair.
