Lace pencil skirt

This Thursday, I am attending a brunch with the fabulously fantastic designer, Betsy Johnson.  The brunch is a benefit for Gilda's Club (see this post for info about Gilda's Club). Betsy, who is a  breast cancer survivor, will be honoring several local community leaders who are also survivors.  There will also be a drawing for a Derby hat designed by Betsy.  I purchased a VIP ticket, which means I  get to meet Betsy before everyone else arrives, so I needed to make sure I look amazingly hot.

I just had to make a spiffy new outfit for the brunch.  I have half of it done, just need to figure out what I will be wearing on top, something pink for sure.  I had some grey sateen and lace fabric that has been patiently waiting to be made into a skirt.  I chose McCall's pattern 5523 and wanted to make some cute ruffles at the bottom.   I make this skirt out of pinstripe linen last year and really like the pattern.
And her is my version.
I added two more layers of ruffles at the bottom because I wanted it to stand out more with the lace.
