Week in review

Last week was a super fab week and since I still haven't bought a new camera (I know one of these days), hardly any of it is captured in still life.  My apologies, I just need someone to tell me what type of camera to buy. 

Here's a snap shot:

It was a berry picking week for me; blueberries and raspberries are in season and I picked about seven pounds of both last week.  My freezer is stocked full of delish berries ready to be made into something amazing.  This week I plan on picking more, not sure yet where I am going to fit it all.

Taking a ride on a steamboat that is supposed to be relaxing is not so relaxing with about 400 kids. 

The Belle of Louisville is almost 100 years old and used to be names Idlewild. 

I learned that da Vinci took about 20,000 pages of notes and was the first to document hardening of arteries.   The Frazier Museum is hosting an exhibit on the life of Leonardo da Vinci, so  I popped on in for a visit.  If you are in town or this exhibit comes to your town, you must go see it.

A local radio station hosts outdoor concerts on the last Wednesday of every month, so a friend and I took a blanket, some wine, and goodies down to enjoy the sounds of Scars on 5, Nicole Atkins, and Abigail Washburn.


I couldn't go a week without thrifting and scored a fabulous table at a newly opened wine and beer store which also has some pretty cool second hand furniture.  I have been looking for a new kitchen table for years and fell in love with the yellow top on this one.  The sides pulls out or can be tucked away when not in use.    I also got some great new vintage sheets.  I can't decide if I want to make dresses from them or just use them on the bed.

Thrifting Friday

Today I had a leadership luncheon with one of the girls on my team, so we went to this yummy restaurant in Lexington (which is close to where she lives).  She was top in sales on my team from January  - March, so she got lunch on me! It was great chatting about her business and what steps she can take to make more money!

On the way back from Lexington, I stopped at a Goodwill and found this lovely little sewing table for only $2.50! Yep! You read that correctly, two dollars and fifty cents.  I'm sure someone marked it wrong, but I am not complaining.  (I've tried taking a better picture, but I have been lazy and haven't bought a new camera, so I am still working with one that has a busted screen.  So I never know if I am getting all of my subject in the frame until I view it on the computer.) 

My next stop was to Bluegrass Organics, my new favorite gardening store. They have been open a couple of months and have an amazing collection of all your gardening needs.  I kinda have a crush on the guy that works there, so I need to reasons to go in.  (but shhh, don't tell anyone) 

I needed a new grow light because my all of my plants have plateaued at about two inches. Not good.  So I rearranged everything and put up two more lights to give my lettuce and herbs a fighting chance.  Remember the other week, I posted these pictures. Yeah, well that's about what everything looks like still.  The new lettuce seeds I planted have sprouted to a couple of inches,  but that's it.  I still have stringy looking tomato and kohlrabi seedlings.  One squash plant FINALLY sprouted, which I am stoked about.  The only thing that seems to be growing are my peas.  I planted some more seeds today and stuck them in the oven to germinate, so hopefully I will get some good looking plants soon. 

Thrift Shop Tuesday!

So I went thrifting today hoping to find a pair of jeans and black pumps.  I only had time to go to one store and did not come out with jeans or black pumps, but lots of other fun stuff! I swear when I go to thrift shops I need to bring a limited amount of cash and leave the cards in the car. 

For about $19 bucks I ended up with a pair of Ann Taylor cotton pants, vintage thermas (with the box!), 6 Crate & Barrel napkins, 3 vintage napkins, 1 cute little make up bag.  I paid too much for the Crate & Barrel napkins but they were just too adorable! They are the polka dots.  Here they are up close: 

I am too excited about this thermas! I plan on bringing it to some concerts on the waterfront they have here along with some great picnic items.
